The meaning of the word Vayeishev is to settle, to slow down. Yaakov is leading an eventful life and the moment he decides to put down roots, his favorite son is punished by HaShem (on account of evil reports he brings to his father) and is taken away from him. From this event we can conclude that a Jew, especially a great Tzadik of Yaakov’s stature, is not supposed to “settle” and be comfortable. His life is too valuable to comfortably spend it in idle vacation. He must keep going in order to fulfill his calling.
